Tales of D116

If these four walls could share their stories, they would tell a tale of two girls who entered a world of unknown together. Desperately searching for themselves and what was next for their future.

The story began as any other- Move-in day. People in and out and a blur of meeting new students and stress that comes with trying to find where the side tables were going to go. We were both nervous and scared for the day when it would just be us. No more parents telling us to wash the dishes or make our beds. We had to figure out how we were going to be adults and to tell you the truth, the first few weeks of school were ROUGH! Being away from home was taking its toll on both of us, let alone trying to stomach the incoming assignments and papers that come with a full college course load. We put in some effort to get to know each other, but there was this expectation that society puts on the first year of college. This idea that your first roommate is going to be your best friend forever, but we weren't too sure how we fit into that mold. (Heads up: we totally fit that mold)

If these four walls had eyes and ears, here is what they would have witnessed:
  •  Tears and Laughter... lots of laughter
  • Clothes all over the floor
  • Unorganized desks with books and papers strewn everywhere
  • Long talks on the floor about dreams and goals
  • Songs played on repeat... sometimes for a few hours
  • Love lost and new found love
  • Dirty dishes piled high waiting for a free second and an ounce of energy to wash them
  • Pictures of friends and family hung all over the walls
  • Inspirations and encouragements written on the mirrors
  • Movies and watching Netflix (probably more than we should have)
  • Ice cream parties (or just eating cookie dough, as pictured)
  • Long conversations with quad mates and other visitors
  • Dancing
  • Frazzled sleepers late for their morning classes... and breakfast shifts
  • late nights and last minute efforts to complete homework.
  • But most of all, they saw a failing friendship turn into an inseparable relationship.

Our first four walls saw anger, hurt, sadness, joy, but most of all they saw love. A deep love that is shared between two people who were first roommates, but now best friends for the long haul of life.

B,
Thank you for being the World's best first roommate. You are everything I ever dreamed of and more. Here's to many more years of living together and sharing life at Life. Saying goodbye to you yesterday was so hard, because you have become my best friend and I'm so thankful for you. I love you B. #Thelionessandthewolf

.. and to D116, thank you for being there to witness the beginning of a beautiful journey.

  1. From Britt mom: Britt and our family are beyond blessed to have you as a huge part of Britt life. She misses you so so much and loves you. God sure was watching out for Britt when he put you in her life. I always know she is taken care of and has her "life" family to be there for her when I can't. Thanks for just being u Elizabeth...in Britt goofy voice...I will keep praying for you and your family. They raised such a beautiful young woman. Love, Kelley.
Ps I saw Britt start reading this and she started crying so I read it before she could finish.
